72′ High Performance Cruiser

Drawn for people whose idea of fun cruising is chartering a Volvo 70, this high performance design is an exciting proposal for long range family exploration.   The displacement of 21T produces an extremely aggressive design, but allows for a flexible combination of high performance, all-around capabity across the weather range, and comfort in a seaway, with a usable and comfortable interior.   The hull shape builds on the extensive work we have done in the Maxi 72 fleet to produce our 2014 Champion Alegre, the chined hull program we prepared for Mini Maxi CR winner SuperNikka, and more complex design studies including twin rudders for the WallyCento #4 currently in build at Persico.

This proposal interior has been created to reflect a particular requirement for lots of berths for fun-filled trips with children, but it could just as easily be replaced with a layout suited to fewer guests.  The proposal interior influences the exterior styling and deck layout, leading to an exciting modern combination of fast cruiser and raceboat which will be very innovative. We show one suggestion with an aggressive coachroof drawn to echo the sharp lines and panels of the chined hull shape, but any styling direction is possible. A number of deck options are: 1) conventional sidedecks outboard of the cockpit 2) conventional sidedecks forwards of the wheel only 3) cantilevered seats in the cockpit, which could slide into the sidedecks when not wanted.  The last would be a unique and interesting approach allowing a small group to enjoy the aft cockpit when not sailing or when underway.
