Our DK46 Estrella Damm owned by Ignacio Montes won Sail Racing ORC Class A at Spain’s premier regatta, the 43rd Copa Del Rey MAPFRE. This year the event doubled as the European ORC Championships for a truly significant double victory for the team, seen here being congratulated on the dock by HM King Felipe of Spain.

This win extended her remarkable winning record at Copa del Rey, having won the overall top trophy three times before, as well as class winners four times. Remarkably a second DK46 was on the podium of the 34 boat class, Hydra-HM Hospitales of Oscar Chaves coming 3rd, cementing the DK46’s historic record of success.

Winning by 5.5 points, a relieved but jubilant skipper Luis Martinez Doreste said, “The week started well, but the main thing was we had a good feeling that the boat was really fast. Then windward-leeward races began… We started sailing really well, with good starts, not missing a single tack, and yesterday and today we nailed them all. We are very happy… Copa del Rey champions and European champions!”
