Sporty Daysailer With a Classic Twist

This project is to produce a piece of high performance eye candy that will reflect and embellish her ‘mothership’, a classic superyacht. Both when stored on deck and afloat the pair of matched tenders need to present very strong aesthetic values as well as provide her experienced owner with a high performance sailing experience.

The hull shape is modern sportsboat inspired, combining light displacement with powerful lines to ensure strong offwind performance. The goal is to allow easy singlehanded pottering about with the main only, fun daysailing with an adult and two kids, or full-on matchracing with a two adults.

The cockpit is framed by varnished mahogany sidepieces that act as a ‘bum cleat’ when sitting out. They would float above the deck by 20mm and their high polish contrasts nicely with the matte teak side decks and the glass coachroof top which continues the coaming section shape, so reflections drape straight across both surfaces. Details to allow for easy handling on and off the mother ship include a spliced rig, removable or retractable sprit, lift keel, and a cassette or transom hung rudder.
